Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite is official. Just a few days before CES 2020 kicks off, Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S10 Lite, a slightly diluted version of the standard Galaxy S10 that will fit in a lower price bracket. The Galaxy S10 Lite features a triple rear camera setup with a main 48-megapixel sensor.
The primary camera is supported by Samsung's in-house Super Steady OIS stabilization technology. The phone takes design cues from the Galaxy Note 10 Lite and features a flat Infinity-O display with a centrally-positioned hole-punch housing the front camera
Galaxy S10 Lite Spec
Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite spec includes a 6.7-inch Full HD+ (1080 x 2400 pixels) Infinity-O Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 394ppi. The Galaxy S10 Lite looks identical to the Galaxy Note 10 Lite from the front, thanks to the similar display profile with a centrally-positioned hole-punch, slim bezels, and rounded corners. Over at the back, the Galaxy S10 Lite packs a slightly larger camera module compared to the Galaxy Note 10 Lite, thanks to a different arrangement of the camera lenses.
The Galaxy S10 Lite draws power from a 64-bit 7nm octa-core processor that has a maximum clock speed of 2.8GHz. Samsung has not specified whether the silicon powering the phone is an Exynos SoC or a Qualcomm chipset. But as per leaks, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 SoC will tick at the heart of the Galaxy S10 Lite. The Samsung phone packs up to 8GB of RAM, but a lower-end variant with 6GB of RAM is also on the table.
Samsung Galaxy S10's triple rear camera setup includes a 48-megapixel main shooter with an f/2.0 lens and Super Steady OIS for stabilization. Samsung says the Super Steady OIS feature works in tandem with Super Steady mode in the camera app to negate hand movements for delivering smoother and blur-free videos. It is accompanied by a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with an f/2.2 aperture and 123-degree field of view. There is also a 5-megapixel macro camera with an f/2.4 lens for clicking close-up photos.
On the front side include a 32-megapixel selfie camera with an f/2.2 lens. The Galaxy S10 Lite packs a 4,500mAh battery with Super Fast charging support. The phone comes equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor for authentication, but the front camera also supports face unlock. It offers 128GB of internal storage that is expandable via a microSD card (up to 1TB). Galaxy S10 Lite's dimensions are 75.6 x 162.5 x 8.1mm and it weighs 186 grams
Design
We have seen leaked renders supposedly showing the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite, and in them, it looks a lot more like the rumored Samsung Galaxy S11 than the Samsung Galaxy S10.
That is large because it has a punch-hole camera in the top center of the screen, rather than the top right, and there’s a large camera block in the top left corner of the rear.
The frame is metal the back is likely glass, and there is no headphone port. Note that while the smartphone is referred to as the Samsung Galaxy A91 in the image below this is believed to simply be another name for the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite.
That is probably what the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite looks like but it is worth noting that Samsung has also patented a design that is a closer match for the rest of the S10 range including more rear cameras and a dual-lens punch-hole camera in the top right corner of the screen. This patent doesn’t mention the S10 Lite by name though, so it is probably for another phone.
In terms of screen, almost all rumors so far put that at 6.7 inches, though one source ever so slightly disagrees, suggesting that it will actually be 6.69 inches. It’s said to be a Full HD+ Super AMOLED display.
Few of these rumors have been backed up by a leaked manual for the device that has found its way online – you can see the stylings of the front and the back of the handset, even if it's just as a couple of black and white sketches.
Camera
We have heard several times now that the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite will have a triple-lens camera, consisting of a 48MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide one, and a 5MP one that might either be a depth sensor or a macro one, depending on whom you believe. In any case, it sounds like the phone won’t have a telephoto lens.
On the other hand, the lens does remain a possibility, as the renders above show a square lens, and where square lenses are used on phones they’re typically for zoom cameras. In any source, all seem to agree that the Galaxy S10 Lite will have a 32MP front-facing camera.
We've also heard that it might have "unprecedented" optical image stabilization (OIS) technology, that's better than you'll find on any other phone. This claim comes from a reputable leaker and is probably the 'Super Steady OIS' that's written on some of the leaked renders above.
Battery
The Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite will reportedly have a 4,500mAh battery. That is a leak we have heard multiple times, so it is likely accurate. It would also be one of the best and largest batteries Samsung has put in an S-series handset, matching the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G. It includes a 4,500mAh battery and super-fast charging capabilities.
In terms of the other specs, sources suggest that the Galaxy S10 Lite will have a Snapdragon 855 chipset (the same as you’ll find in US models of the rest of the Samsung Galaxy S10 range), along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It’s also thought to run Android 10.
Services
The Galaxy S10 Lite comes with Samsung’s ecosystem of apps and services, including Bixby, Samsung Pay, and Samsung Health. According to your expectation, these Galaxy Lite handsets are also protected with defense-grade security platform Samsung Knox.
