"Google Pixel Buds 2" Google announced its first-ever true wireless earphones, the new Google Pixel Buds, back in October 2019 alongside the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL. At the time, Google announced that the new earphones would go on sale in early 2020, but didn't reveal any other details including pricing and country-specific availability. A new report now suggests that the true wireless Google Pixel Buds could go on sale soon, priced at $179 approximately Rs. 12,800 based on a now-removed product listing on a third-party online store.

The listing was spotted on the online store of B&H Photo by 9to5Google, which also spotted the $179 price and the ‘Clearly White' color option. The listing did not have any images and was for pre-orders. While active, 9to5Google states that it was possible to go ahead and complete the pre-order, but no shipping date was given.

The listing has since been removed, and searching for Pixel Buds on the online store only shows the standard Bluetooth version of the Google Pixel Buds that was released in 2017. The new Pixel Buds have a claimed battery life of 5 hours per charge, with an additional 24 hours provided by the case. As with earlier Google earphones, Google Assistant will be easy to access on the true wireless earphones.

Although it doesn't indicate a lot, it's a sign that the Pixel Buds could go on sale in some countries soon, and the price leak of $179 is likely to be accurate as well. This would now put the new Google Pixel Buds up against the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Buds plus which are already up for pre-order in India for Rs. 11,990. Unlike the AirPods Pro which features active noise cancellation, the new Google Pixel Buds have passive noise isolation.

Google Pixel Buds 2 Release Date

Google uncovered that Google Pixel Buds 2 will be released in Spring 2020. It means anywhere in March, April, and May of 2020 and we will update you once we have a proper confirmation on this

You can now access Google Assistant hands-free by simply saying, “Hey, Google.” The Buds come equipped with sensors to pick up ambient noise and adjust speaker volume and microphone range accordingly. Google has said that the Buds launch with beamforming microphones and sensors. Thus, it allows for better experience while talking on the phone.

Pixel Buds 2 Price

The $179 is asking price for the Pixel Buds 2 may raise a few eyebrows. That is $20 more than Google charged for the original Pixel Buds, and also more than $158 you had pay for Apple's AirPods 2 if you opt for a standard carrying case and also with a wireless charging case, the AirPods cost $20 more than the new Pixel Buds. Samsung's Galaxy Buds cost $129.

You shall have a choice of four different colors with the Pixel Buds 2 available in Clearly White, Oh So Orange, Quite Mint and Almost Black. That is white, orange, mint, and black if you're not familiar with Google's naming schemes for colors.

It will be some time before we find out if Google's new Pixel Buds are worth the $179 cost, as the new earbuds won't arrive until next spring.

Google Pixel Buds 2 Specs

Google said the Pixel Buds 2 get 5 hours of battery life for listening. That extends up to 24 hours when you use the Pixel Buds 2 wireless charging case. We’ll need to put the Buds 2 through a number of battery tests to back that up, though.

Pixel Buds 2 will also have long-range Bluetooth connection that should let them work even if your phone is in another room, or up to 100 yards away. Pixel Buds 2 will be able to pair with any of the best Android phones running Android 6 or later, as well as all devices that support Bluetooth 4.0+, including laptops, tablets, and even the iPhone.

And, as expected, you'll be able to summon Google Assistant through the Pixel Buds 2 by saying “Hey, Google.”

Google Pixel Buds 2 Battery

According to Google, the Buds will be connected up to three rooms away while you are indoors. The outdoor connection range is up to a football field and the battery life Google Pixel Buds 2 is more or less the same as the AirPods. On the other hand, the new Pixel Buds charging case delivers an additional 19 hours of battery life. Moreover, the new Google Pixel Buds 2 looks very cool, but we will have to wait until next year to try them.

Google Pixel Buds 2 Speakers

We don’t know much about the Pixel Buds 2 speakers and how they actually perform in real-world settings, but Google announced some interesting features we're excited to test out.

Google said the bud tips will help block outside noises, while two mics in each earbud will identify your voice and cancel out background sound when you’re taking a phone call.

The Pixel Buds 2 will also have some kind of adaptable sound technology that automatically adjusts the sound based on how noisy your environment is.

Pixel Buds 2 Design And Audio

Google says it filtered thousands of ears to come up with a design that fit a majority of people comfortably. The Pixel Buds 2 will fit flush in your ear as opposed to jutting out, with a stabilizer arc and interchangeable tip helping create a secure fit.

In terms of sound quality, Google is promising rich bass and clear highs, augmented by the Pixel Buds creating a seal against your ear to hold in audio. There's a spatial vent in the new Pixel Buds that let in enough environment sound so you're still aware of the world around you. The Pixel Buds 2 features an adaptive sound that can adjust to your surroundings — raising the volume as you leave a quiet room for the noisy outdoors.

Every earbud features two beam-forming microphones that kick into action when you use the Pixel Buds to field a call on your phone.

Pixel Buds 2 Connectivity

Speaking of your phone, it does not need to be nearby for the Pixel Buds 2 to do their thing. Google says the earbuds feature a long-range Bluetooth connection that should allow you to leave your phone indoors or in another room while the Pixel Buds continue to work. Inside, you'll be able to stay connected from three rooms away and outside the Pixel Buds stay connected to the phone up to 100 yards away.

You will be able to summon the Google Assistant with a wake word ("OK Google") and those translation skills that impressed us in 2017 are back.

On the other hands, Google has clearly designed its earbuds with the new Pixel 4 phones in mind, the Pixel Buds 2 will work with any Android device running Android 6 or later. The Pixel Buds 2 is also compatible with devices that support Bluetooth 4.0+, including laptops, tablets, and even the iPhone.
