Bhuj The Pride of India is an upcoming Indian 2020 Hindi-language war action film based on historical true incidents directed, co-produced and written by Abhishek Dudhaiya. Set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, it is about the life of IAF Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, the then in-charge of the Bhuj airport who and his team reconstructed the IAF airbase with the help of 300 local women. The film features Ajay Devgn as Karnik, along with Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Nora Fatehi, Sharad Kelkar, Ammy Virk, and Pranitha Subhash.

After announcing the film on 19 March 2019, it was confirmed that the true incident shown in the film is one of India's most fascinating war-related stories. Principal photography began in late June 2019, and it was shot in Hyderabad, Kutch, Bhopal, Indore, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Kolkata. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film will not be released theatrically and will stream worldwide on Disney+Hotstar

Starring Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha (Dabangg), and Nora Fatehi (Street Dancer 3D), the real-life story of 300 women who helped Indian Air Force Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik (Devgn) rebuild a destroyed airstrip during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. TV director Abhishek Dudhaiya makes his feature film debut as a writer and director.

Bhuj The Pride of India is a production of T-Series and Ajay Devgn films. Bhushan Kumar and Devgn are among the producers. It was filmed in Hyderabad, Kutch, Bhopal, Indore, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Kolkata.

On 19 March 2019, Bhushan Kumar announced the film on true events of the Indo-Pak war. The film depicts the incident from the Indo-Pak war of 1971 where three hundred local women helped in the reconstruction of a destroyed airbase in Bhuj, Gujarat.

Dutt started shooting for the film on 25 June 2019 in Hyderabad. Then, he and the other cast members including Devgn traveled to Bhopal, Indore, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Kolkata to commence the next portions of the film. A song, picturized on Devgn and Sinha, was filmed in Kutch in late December 2019. Fatehi began filming her portions on 12 January 2020.

Ajay Devgn portrays Vijay Karnik, and he was also the only choice for the role. The other cast included Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Ammy Virk, and Rana Daggubati. The film is Virk's second Hindi film. South actress Pranitha Subhash later joined the film, making her Bollywood debut.


Parineeti Chopra was also signed to portray a spy in the film, but due to the film's shooting dates clashing with her other film Saina, she opted out of the film in November 2019. Nora Fatehi was roped in as a replacement for Chopra in January 2020. Later in January, Daggubati exited the film citing health issues, and Sharad Kelkar replaced him.

Bhuj The Pride of India Release Date

The first look of Ajay Devgn's character was released on 2 January 2020. On June 29,2020, Disney+ Hotstar conducted virtual press conference where Ajay Devgn announced that the film will release on Disney+ Hotstar exclusively as part of Disney+ Hotstar Multiplex initiative which was a result of theatre shut down due to COVID-19 pandemic and released first look posters for Devgan and Sanjay Dutt
