Prithviraj is an upcoming 2020 Indian Hindi-language historical action drama film directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi and produced by Aditya Chopra under his production house Yash Raj Films.

It is about the life of the Chahamana king Prithviraj Chauhan and stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role of Chauhan, while Manushi Chhillar (in her film debut) plays his wife Samyukta. The film was officially announced on 9 September 2019, which marked the occasion of Kumar's 52nd birthday, with a motion poster released on social media.

Principal photography of the film began on 15 November 2019, and it is scheduled to release in theatres in India on the occasion of Diwali in 2020.

Principal photography commenced on 15 November 2019 at Jamwaramgarh, Jaipur, Rajasthan. A song was shot in January 2020. Later the filming was postponed in March 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic in India. Ahead of the 2020 monsoon season, sets created for the film in Rajasthan were taken down because the cost of maintaining them during the coronavirus lockdown was too high.

With no filming expected to take place before the monsoon season, the filmmakers reportedly made the decision to destroy the Dahisar sets, Yash Raj Films has confirmed. Two sets were erected in Dahisar. One was a palace and the other an arena in which an action sequence was supposed to be filmed. According to Yash Raj, the sequences will now be shot at an indoor set once filming is allowed to resume.

Akshay Kumar’s film on the life of Prithviraj Chauhan is one of the most anticipated films of the actor but the makers seem to be in quite a struggle owing to the coronavirus pandemic. 

Produced by Yash Raj Films, sets for the film were already constructed in Mumbai's suburbs. However, a Mid-Day report reveals that the sets will be demolished due to the high maintenance cost.

Also with no shooting taking place at the moment, it’s probable that the actors will be able to return to shoots only in the month of August or September. It’s when monsoon usually hits India and there is a scare of rains destroying the sets. 

A source close to the film was quoted, "The head honchos of Yash Raj Films had kept the set standing over the past two months, hoping that the situation would improve soon. However, with the rains only weeks away, it doesn’t seem feasible to retain the set any longer. The makers are currently procuring necessary permission to have it pulled down. Akshay had filmed a major portion of the Chandraprakash Dwivedi-directed drama at the Dahisar set before the lockdown was announced, but some crucial sequences have yet to be shot.”

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Laxmi Bomb’ is also set to release with speculations still rife if the makers will choose a digital release over a theatrical one.
