Happiest Season

Happiest Season is an upcoming American romantic comedy feature film co-written and directed by Clea DuVall, and starring Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis. The film is scheduled to be released on November 25, 2020, by Sony Pictures Releasing.

In April 2018, TriStar Pictures acquired the worldwide distribution rights to the film Happiest Season, with Clea DuVall set to direct from a script she co-wrote with Mary Holland, and production by Marty Bowen and Isaac Klausner through their Temple Hill Productions and, with co-financing from Entertainment One, which will handle the UK and Canadian distribution and Sony Pictures handling distribution elsewhere through the TriStar label.

Principal photography began on January 21, 2020, in Pittsburgh and wrapped on February 28, 2020; immediately before the film industry was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A young woman plans to propose marriage to her girlfriend while attending her family's annual holiday party. At the party, she realizes her girlfriend hasn't come out to her conservative parents yet.

Sony Pictures has released the first images from Clea DuVall’s upcoming romantic comedy Happiest Season. The film stars Kristen Stewart as Abby, who’s planning to propose to her girlfriend Harper (Mackenzie Davis) at her family’s annual Christmas dinner, but is shocked to discover that Harper has kept their relationship a secret from her family.

They pretty much had me at Kristen Stewart/Mackenzie Davis holiday rom-com, but I also really enjoyed DuVall’s previous directorial effort, The Intervention, so I’m eager to see what happens here, especially when you’ve got two great actresses in the lead roles. Also, it’s been a minute since we had a really good holiday-themed romantic comedy.

The fact that people are always digging out Love Actually for some holiday-themed joy shows that the genre could use some fresh life, and hopefully, Happiest Season provides it. We could certainly use some holiday cheer this year more than ever. Check out the Happiest Season images below, and be on the lookout for the trailer, which is likely to arrive soon. Happiest Season opens November 25th and also stars Alison Brie, Aubrey Plaza, Daniel Levy, Victor Garber, and Mary Steenburgen.

Meeting your girlfriend’s family for the first time can be tough. Planning to propose at her family’s annual Christmas dinner – until you realize that they don’t even know she’s gay – is even harder.

When Abby (Kristen Stewart) learns that Harper (Mackenzie Davis) has kept their relationship a secret from her family, she begins to question the girlfriend she thought she knew. HAPPIEST SEASON is a holiday romantic comedy that hilariously captures the range of emotions tied to wanting your family’s acceptance, being true to yourself, and trying not to ruin Christmas.

A new look at Kristen Stewart's new Christmas movie Happiest Season, which focuses on a same-sex relationship, has been revealed.

The movie sees Charlie's Angels' and Twilight's Stewart star alongside Terminator: Dark Fate's Mackenzie Davis as a couple who head to the latter's home for the festive period. While Stewart's character plans to propose to Davis's, we soon learn that the latter has not come out to her conservative parents, which complicates things.

The new pictures, which you can take a gander at below, show the couple spending time together at an ice rink, Stewart with Schitt's Creek star Dan Levy, as well as the larger ensemble cast together.

"I think I've wished to see a gay Christmas rom-com my whole life," Stewart explained to the news. "I'm so happy and proud of [writer/director] Clea [DuVall] for bringing this into the world." "I love when holiday movie makes you long for an idea of home but also examines how hilarious and hard reality at home can be sometimes," she added.

DuVall noted that an LGBTQ+ holiday story is long over overdue, adding: "I'm a huge fan of Christmas movies, but I had never seen my story represented. "Happiest Season felt like a great opportunity to tell a universal story from a new perspective."Stewart added: "We couldn’t have had a better more loving pack of weirdos supporting each other on this one. Had an absolute blast." Happiest Season also stars Parks and Recreation's Aubrey Plaza, Community and GLOW star Alison Brie, Mary Steenburgen, and Victor Garber.
