Hayop Ka! (lit. 'You Are An Animal!', a profanity meaning "you son of a bitch!" in English), also known as Hayop Ka! (You Son of a Bitch!), Hayop Ka! The Nimfa Dimaano Story, and You Animal!, is an upcoming Philippine adult animated romantic comedy film directed by Avid Liongoren. It features a voice cast that includes Angelica Panganiban, Robin Padilla, and Sam Milby.
Produced by Rocketsheep Studio and Spring Films, the film is scheduled to release on October 29, 2020, on Netflix. According to Liongoren, Hayop Ka! was first conceptualized after the production of the film Saving Sally, serving as its "thematic opposite." He also said that it took three years to produce Hayop Ka!, and described it as "light and comical".
Nimfa, an anthropomorphic cat, works as a perfume salesperson at a department store. Her boyfriend, a mongrel named Roger, is a janitor. However, when Nimfa meets Iñigo, a dog with a career as a high-profile entrepreneur, she finds herself caught in the middle of a love triangle.
Kevin Eric Raymundo, an animator who worked on the upcoming film Hayop Ka! The Nimfa Dimaano Story, asked viewers to support the movie, even as it’s been criticized for the casting of Robin Padilla as one of the main characters.
Robin, a vocal supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte, has gotten flak for problematic comments he’s made on TV in the past and for his opinions on questionable government actions – for instance, he recently expressed support for the controversial project that brought crushed dolomite to Manila Bay.
Because of Robin’s part in the film, some people called to boycott it – but in a September 21 tweet, one of its animators appealed to viewers to support the film and not judge it by its actors alone.
“I’ve worked on this awesome film. Please don’t judge it by its VA. He doesn’t represent the movie as a whole,” Kevin said.
“Support the artists who have worked hard on this project. Sila naman ang totoong Bida dito (They’re the real stars of this film),” he continued, adding that ultimately, it’s the artists that will be affected if people boycott it.
In the film, Robin voices the character of Roger, the asked janitor boyfriend of the main character, a cat named Nimfa (Angelica Panganiban), who sells perfume at a department store. In the film, Nimfa gets caught in a love triangle between her boyfriend and a “bourgeoisie business dog” named Iñigo Villaneuva (Sam Milby).
The film is directed by Avid Liongoren and written by Manny Angeles and Paulle Olivenza. It is executive produced by Piolo Pascual, who also voices a character in the movie.
Also part of the cast are Empoy Marquez, Arci Muñoz, Eugene Domingo, Yeng Constantino, Moira dela Torre, and Bb Joyce Bernal.
The film is the first adult animation to stream on Netflix, and will be available across Asia in English and Taglish as You Animal! It is set to premiere on the platform on October 29.
Netflix Philippines has released the trailer for its new animated film coming to the streaming platform this October: Hayop Ka! The Nimfa Dimaano Story.
The film tells the story of feline Nimfa Dimaano (voiced by Angelica Panganiban), a perfume saleswoman, and her mongrel janitor boyfriend Roger (voiced by Robin Padilla), who appear to have different life goals.
Dimaano soon finds herself entangled in a love triangle with a rich businessman (or business dog, as Netflix Philippines puts it), and has to decide between the simple life or living it up. The trailer for the film seems to build to an eventual showdown between the two men fighting over Dimaano’s heart.

Hayop Ka Release Date
On September 21, 2020, Netflix announced that the film is set to be released on October 29. In September 2020, Hayop Ka! garnered a mixed reception from netizens. Some demanded that Netflix recast Robin Padilla, who voices Roger in the film, due to Padilla's support of Philippines president Rodrigo Duterte; however, others urged the general public to support the film by watching it for the sake of the Filipino animators and filmmakers behind the project.
